Rolling over!

Rome rolled over from his back to his belly yesterday for the first time!!!!! I can't believe he can do it already!!! of course he won't do it when every one is watching lol but I did manage to get a video. It's crazy how big and strong he is compared to how tiny and frail he was when he was first born.

(look at those cheecks!)

Roman has a new favorite toy... his jumparoo.
It's so funny watching him play in it because only his tippy toes touch the floor haha. But he doesn't care.. as long as he is sitting up and able to see everything going on around him he is happy.

what a long week

Poor Roman has a cold. He has been very unhappy lately and the only time I can set him down is if he's asleep. so on top of reflux,, and teething we can add a cold to the list. Luckily he hasn't been running a fever but he is having a hard time breathing. During the day the easiest way to get him to sleep is going outside and sitting in the swing or putting him in his bouncer. He passes right out.

As most of you know Roman has a flat spot on the side of his head. His doctor wanted us to go to physical therapy because she thinks his neck muscles aren't as strong on his right side as they are on the left so he tends to favor one side. I scheduled his appointment for the 17th so hopefully that will help. Until then we've been trying to keep him off his right side so it will even out a little bit more. It's looking better every day!

Being a stay at home mom is the best thing in the world.I have so much fun playing with Roman and being there for all of his firsts. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

3 months old!!!

Roman is now 3 months old! He can already roll over from his belly to his back,, wave goodbye (I thought he was just moving his arms around but every time someone leaves and waves bye to him he does it back!),, he laughs and smiles,, "talks" to you,, and we are working on grabbing things. He's still having a hard time controlling his arms and he gets pretty frustrated when he can't grab his toys.

Rome is already getting teeth! He has been incredibly grumpy this past week and hasn't been sleeping very well. He has been drooling like crazy too. I looked in his mouth the other day and sure enough.. 2 little teeth are starting to poke through his bottom gums. I can't believe he's getting them this early! Don't most babies get them when they are 7 or 8 months??? So much for breast feeding till he's 6 months old...

Chase Dodge

I don't really know what I wold do without Chase. He works so hard and has sacrificed so much just so I can stay home and be with Roman. He is always making sure Rome has everything he needs and tries his hardest to make him happy. I'm so lucky to have a boyfriend that is willing to do so much for me and our baby. You always hear about those dads that want nothing to do with their kids and could care less about what goes on in their lives. Chase is the complete opposite, he has been there from day one.

After Romans first bath chase helped get him ready for bed

Chase took a few weeks off from work to help take care of Roman while I recovered.

Fourth of July!

Romans first fourth of July was a blast! Sadly Chase had to work during the day but as soon as he got off we headed over to his parents house for dinner. He fell asleep before we had to chance to watch fireworks but he still got to play with puppies and visit grandma and grandpa Dodge.

He always pulls the funniest faces. It cracks me up!

2 months old

We took Rome to his 2 month check up Monday and while the doctor was checking him he rolled over for the first time! He now does it every time you put him on his belly. He also smiles when you talk to him. I can't believe he's growing up so fast.

Roman Todd Dodge 4.19.11

Monday April 18 Chase and I got a call from my doctor asking us to come talk to her. I was 37 weeks pregnant and since I was measuring small I was going in twice a week for ultrasounds and non-stress tests. During one of the ultrasounds they found that Romans belly was measuring at 32 weeks and wasn't growing as fast as he should be so Dr.Hebert wanted to discuss our next move. She could induce me now or wait until Friday to do it. There was a chance that his lungs weren't be fully developed and he might have to spend time in the NICU but since he wasn't growing they thought that the placenta wasn't working properly and he wasn't getting the nutrients he needed. This was probably the hardest decision I've ever had to make.. have them induce me and possibly end up with a baby that just wasn't ready to be here or wait a little longer and not know if he was getting food and oxygen. After a lot of thinking and a little persuasion from my mom I decided to be induced.
After I had made my decision Dr.Hebert sent us home for a few hours to get my bag packed and make sure everything was ready for the baby. At 5 p.m. we went back to the hospital. they immediately started an IV with petocin and broke my water. About 2 hours later the contractions were starting to become more and more painful so i decided to get an epidural. Now we just had to wait... and wait... and wait...
8 hours later it was time to start pushing. With my mom and chase there for support I pushed for 15 minutes...

His daddy cut the chord and the nurse laid him on my stomach. I immediately fell in love. My mom and I were both in tears as they took him away to make sure everything was ok. After they had cleaned him up and checked his lungs they brought him back over to me then took us up to our room. I spent the next 3 days in the hospital and when it was finally time to go home we put roman in his new car seat and headed to my moms

The first week Roman was home was probably the most stressful. getting up every 2 hours to feed him was exhausting but luckily chase was there to help me out. I really don't think I could have done it without him.
